When planning your wedding, one of the most important aspects is affordability. You want to have the wedding of your dreams but you also want to stay within a reasonable budget. I mean lets be totally honest here. You don’t want to still be paying on your wedding 20 years from now.

You might not believe it, but Hawaii weddings are very affordable. You can have your dream wedding with all the bells and whistles for under five thousand dollars. Can you imagine looking out over the beautiful ocean as you exchange wedding vows with the man or woman of your dreams?

The beautiful creation of mother nature is literally your backdrop. How amazing is that? The feeling of warm sand between your toes, as you walk down the aisle to the voice of the huge waves crashing against the shore. Saying “I Do” at the exact moment the sun begins to set. I don’t think it gets anymore romantic then that. Just the thought brings a smile to my face. Having your wedding in Hawaii will truly make your special day one to remember. Not only that, but Hawaii is fun.

Your friends and family will love you for giving them a reason to visit one of the most beautiful places in the world. Have your guests come a day or two early so they can tour the island and get a taste of the Hawaiian culture. I promise you, they will not be disappointed.

And wait, that’s not all Hawaii has to offer. Not only is it a great place to get married, but it is also a great place to have your honeymoon. That’s another reason why its so affordable. You can walk down the isle in Waikiki and honeymoon in Maui. It just doesn’t get any better then that.

Destination Weddings

September 22, 2012 by

Article by Georgina Clatworthy

I know a thing or two about destination weddings, as I myself got married on a beach in Sri Lanka back in 2001. Although only 8 years ago destination weddings was still in it’s infancy & the resources available to me when planning & preparing my big day where very limited. Nowadays, destination weddings are big business, with a growing number of exotic & romantic locations, themed invitations & favors & a wonderful range of designer wedding dresses, something not available to me in 2001!

If the idea of a destination wedding is your idea of wedding heaven then there are a few things you need to take into consideration.

Where can we get married? Visit your local travel agent & ask them for brochures on destination weddings. You can also research locations online, but I would advise booking through a travel agency as you may get a better price & added extras, such as a room upgrade, flight upgrades & insurance. We booked our wedding through Kuoni & obtained a room upgrade, free excursions & free meals.

What can we expect? Typically destination weddings were beach front weddings in exotic locations such as the Caribbean. Today there is a wide range of locations available, across the globe, from safari in Kenya to romantic chapels in Italy. It is worth checking out an recent list of the most popular destinations though, because its popular does not necessarily mean it would be perfect for you. Be aware of the conveyor belt effect – popular destinations at certain times of year will be full with wedding bookings & you could find your day spoiled by a quick ceremony & a queue of anxious couples waiting behind you. However, a destination wedding is a wonderful way to get married. They are typically intimate affairs, with a select guest list of close family & friends.

Most locations offer wedding packages, what can we expect for our money? Destination weddings do offer the adavantage of providing everything for you – photographer, video, local official, flowers, make up, hair stylist, reception, wedding breakfast, room upgrades – the list can be endless. This means you can simply book your wedding & not have to worry about all the extras. When you arrive at your location you will probably have to choose the finer details such as flowers, ceremony location etc. Some locations will also offer you the opportunity to get married in traditional local dress, made especially for you! Typically a wedding package will offer great value for money whilst saving you a lot of time & stress too!

Who can we take with us? Anyone you want. You will need two witnesses, although if you got it alone you could ask two hotel guests or staff to stand in! The usual etiquette is for invited guests to pay for their flights whilst you pick up the tab for accommodation, food & beverages at the wedding. Ask about group booking discounts on airfares & hotel prices.

What about the honeymoon? Destination weddings usually combine the honeymoon aswell. We got married in Sri Lanka & then flew to the Maldives a couple of days afterwards. This was a package offered by Kuoni & represented a great saving on booking two seperate holidays. You may want to stay in your chosen location longer & honeymoon there, or perhaps move to another part of the country & another hotel. Again ask about combining your wedding & honeymoon as you may make significant savings.

Is a destination wedding legal? Yes, you will be told at the time of booking about the legal requirements before you can get married. Usually you will be required to stay in your chosen location for a set number of days before you are legally eligible to marry there. You may also be required to obtain certain legal documents before you travel – we had to obtain sworn & witnessed Affidavit’s from a master of oaths before we travelled.

What do we wear? Check the temperatures & weather conditions of your chosen location – for hot climates choose loose fitting, lightweight clothing. Remember, you have to pack these garments in a suitcase, so make sure they will travel okay & that you can arrange to get them pressed at the other end.

A destination wedding is a wonderful way to get married & offers you the opportunity to have as much or as little input as you want. They are also a good option if your budget is tight as the savings are significant when compared to a traditional wedding at home.

Weddings in Italy – Short stories about the Celebrant

September 20, 2012 by

Article by Marco Caccia

Since 2000 I attended dozens of weddings in Italy and I loved all the ceremonies able to reveal the exact expression of the communion between two souls. Whenever this alchemy happened, the talent of the celebrant took an important role in this magic. The tone of the voice, the warm manners, the piercing look and the ability to get the audience’s attention (knowing that you are not the main character of the day!) are the main qualities of a great celebrant. I can easily remember dozens of romantic and enthralling ceremonies, but I also attended many others services that I have completely forgotten. And many times the celebrant made the difference.Sometimes it is just a sentence.I remember a Tuscany wedding. It was a civil wedding in Florence in the superb Sala Rossa. If you have been in Florence you surely remember Piazza della Signoria, the main square of Florence, and at a corner the Renaissance masterpiece of Palazzo Vecchio. The sumptuous Florence wedding hall (Sala Rossa) is located inside Palazzo Vecchio and it is adorned with precious tapestries from the eighteenth-century tapestries. You can therefore imagine the admiration and the caution of the guests when they entered this marvelous hall that in 1860 belonged to the Prime Minister of The Italian State (Baron Bettino Ricasoli). The celebrant waited a few moments and then he said: “When I saw so many English people entering Sala Rossa I felt in danger. I thought you wanted to hit me because of Capello!” Capello, at that time, had just been appointed trainer of the English national football team and he was not well accepted by the English supporters. It was a second and all the audience burst in a good laugh: a distance was broken and a warm attention conquered.Sometimes it is a little fault. It was another Tuscany Wedding, a Catholic ceremony in the church of a fairy tale medieval castle in Chianti region. The local parish priest was very enthusiastic because an Irish couple wanted to get marry in his countryside church. His English knowledge was pretty basic, but he was so thrilled by the event that he studied the English version of the mass for weeks. On the wedding day he was very nervous and during the ceremony he made, indeed, some mistakes; nevertheless his oratory was so intense, enthralling and passionate that he created a kind of magic. It was one of the most romantic and touching ceremonies to which I have ever attended.Sometimes it is a poem.Italy is a country of Saints, Poets and Sailors, as the Italian saying goes. Regarding the poets I believe that many of them work in the public sector! In many civil weddings in Italy, in fact, the officiant likes to recite a love poem during the ceremony. Sometimes it is a poem written by a famous Italian poet like for example Dante, Petrarca or Leopardi, and sometimes the author is the celebrant himself. It could seem a funny thing but, instead, I have to admit that very often these readings are charming and romantic, with a genuine sense that springs from the passion that nurtured them.

Choosing The Right Wedding Cakes To Make Weddings More Special

September 18, 2012 by

Article by Autumn H. Diaz

Weddings are considered to be one of the happiest moments in a couple’s life, so all the participants put in all the effort they can give just to make everything perfect for that special day. Every single detail is checked and double checked to make sure that all is going smoothly even months before the actual wedding. A lot of couples usually just hire wedding planners and caterers to make things easier for everybody involved no matter the cost. From the planning stage to the actual wedding day, great care is given by those who are organizing each aspect of a wedding. From the reception venues, the number of guests, all the way down to the wedding cakes, every bit is important.

Wedding cakes are understandably the focal point of a reception. Everybody is looking forward to the cake-cutting ritual where the couple feed each other with bits of cake, so it has to be extra special as well. Unfortunately though, wedding cakes may cost an arm and a leg nowadays, so it’s best to stick to simple yet elegant cake creations that look and taste the same as expensive ones.

The trending for wedding cakes these days include a fondant frosting, which although pretty, still cost almost twice as much as a cake with the same base but with a butter cream frosting. Fondant cakes require a lot of expertise from the maker, so it naturally costs a lot more in terms of labor fees. A fondant wedding cake may add 0 to 0 to the bill, which is good money that can be spent on other important items. The advice of a wedding or events planner will be very valuable in this aspect, since they have lots of expertise in choosing cakes that fit a couple’s budget.

Since numerous couples are becoming aware of the high costs of planning a wedding, most of them now prefer wedding cakes to be just simple one or two-tiered creations that would fit their budgets without sacrificing the beauty. These are easily available through bakers and cake decorators who specialize in these types of orders and are almost always in touch with wedding coordinators. There are also a number of wedding cakes that are sold online, so couples will never run out of choices.

Choosing the right cake decorations may also affect the outcome of the cake as well as the cost. Detail-oriented and custom-made designs will of course cost a lot more than pre-sculpted sugar flowers and ornaments, so couples should take their time in picking out the design they really want. Fresh flowers on wedding cakes are always a hit, and they look prettier than sugar flowers. They cost a lot less too, when compared to other cake decorations.

The key to choosing the best wedding cakes is being involved in the planning stages. Couples should decide for themselves the kind of cake they want – chocolate, carrot, marble, and a whole lot of varieties along with the kind of frosting to use be it fondant, butter cream, or vanilla. Wedding cakes should carry a touch of a couple’s personalities to make them more distinct and elegant.

Beach Weddings in Perdido Key, Florida

Article by Jean Bird

Located near historic Pensacola, America’s first settlement was in Perdido Key,that offers a unique blend of traditional beach pastimes like angling, deep sea fishing, and beach weddings performed all along the emerald coast, and shopping, golf, and historic and artistic flavor. Florida is an ideal place for a honeymoon or vacation because there is something for everyone of all ages. Below is just a sampling of the fun offerings available.Well, the good news is there are ways to save money on a wedding cake.To give you some perspective, take a trip to your local bakery. You’ll probably see the most mouthwatering and delicious cakes you’ll ever see. The prices for regular, ordinary cakes are probably somewhat reasonable. Now, take a look at their wedding cakes. The only difference is that the wedding cake is double the price.Don’t ask for a tasting. He is going to try to sell you something that is way out of your budget. After you add up all the bells and whistles he is going to offer you, you are probably going to end up with something that you wouldn’t have wanted in the first place. When a baker hears customer asking for a tasting, it’s like the equivalent of a shark seeing blood. He’s going to go after it. This is because no one ever asks for a tasting when it comes to birthday party cake.Get yourself a price list and study it over when you are at home. Make sure you don’t discuss anything when you are in the bakery. If you are on a budget, understand that you are going to have to make some concessions. That’s just part of a wedding. It’s a lot easier for the baker and his staff to make the cake. You can always give it a little more color and design on the day of your wedding by putting some fresh flowers. Also, if the delivery fee that the bakery charges is too high (and in most cases, it is), why not just get somebody to pick it up for you. Obviously assign this task to someone who is not accident prone. The only difference is that the wedding cake is double the price.Don’t ask for a tasting.
