Tips to Plan out a Great Spring Wedding

Spring signifies the beginning of new life and it is the perfect time for exchanging vows and to have a dream wedding. You can have your spring wedding in an outdoor location decorated with fresh seasonal flowers and you looking gorgeous in a traditional wedding gown. For planning a spring wedding there are certain things that you need to keep in mind to make the wedding a great success. Here are some tips to help you plan out a spring wedding:

Decorations & flowers

Using seasonal flowers and pastel colors would give your wedding a feeling of spring time. Decorating the tables with snowflakes is not ideal for a spring wedding. Instead choose petals to adorn tables. For centerpieces, you can use baskets containing spring flowers in soft pastel shades. You can decorate the place with beautiful tulips, roses, lilies, ranunculus, Gerber daisies, hyacinth and daffodils. A bouquet of cream tulips and red roses looks very classic.

Menu

For a spring wedding, a menu which comprises of fresh vegetables such as baby carrots, asparagus, peas, and haricots verts would be great. And don’t forget to include spring fruits such as strawberries, watermelon and apricots. As far as wedding cake is concerned, get the cake decorated with edible spring flowers. In fact you can even opt for something different instead of a regular cake. A carrot cake with a cream cheese icing would be delicious.

Spring Wedding Dresses

An A-line dress with floral embellishments on the bodice or waistline would be ideal for a spring wedding. But don’t choose anything heavy or long-sleeved wedding dresses unless you want to sweat your way down the aisle. You can also go for long floating skirts or gothic gowns. Tea-length gowns are another popular style of wedding dress for brides looking for something trendy to wear. You can find all these styles of wedding dresses quite easily at online bridal shops and that too at much affordable prices.

Adding a bit of color to your wedding dress would be a great idea. Add a touch of pink or blue color or include a bit of colorful embroidery in your wedding dress. As far as fabrics are concerned, light and airy fabrics are ideal such as chiffon, organza or charmeuse.

During the spring season, temperature can drop down to 50 degrees in the evening. Hence carry a sophisticated cashmere cardigan or an organza neck scarf with you.

Headpiece

A delicate floral headpiece would be perfect for a spring wedding. But make sure that the floral headpiece matches with your wedding dress completely. If you have a touch of pink shade or pink color embroidery on your wedding dress, then wearing a blue color floral headpiece would look odd. Hence it is advisable that you first make purchase of your affordable yet elegant wedding dress from a bridal store or online bridal shops and then proceed to buy matching accessories.

Best wedding favors for spring wedding

Seed packets are a popular favor for a spring wedding. You can also present wedding guests with a colorful butterfly cookie or birds nests. Spring is the time of Easter. So you can give your guests a ceramic Easter egg or a chocolate Easter bunny.

Spring is a great time to exchange vows with your beloved. And don’t get disheartened if it starts raining. It would only make the atmosphere even more romantic.

Invitations to the Wedding Rehearsal Dinner are Important Too

May 31, 2011 by

Article by Kim Allarie

One of the principal elements of a wedding is the invitation. In addition to the photo album and video, the invitations are mementos that last a lifetime. They also lay the groundwork for the wedding by giving the guests a feel for the general tone of the event. Just as the rehearsal dinner is a big facet of the nuptials, the rehearsal dinner invitations can be just as critical as the wedding invitations when it comes to giving a positive impression of the occasion. Remember that years afterward, this invitation will be something the bride will proudly show her children and their potential spouses.

The first thing you’ll need to think about is who should be given an invitation to the rehearsal dinner. It’s pretty easy – proper etiquette demands that anybody who has been involved in making the wedding happen should receive an invitation to the rehearsal dinner. This means the parents of the bride and groom, along with the bridal party and any other family and friends who the bride and groom believe should attend. The person who officiates the wedding should also be invited. Keep in mind, this is not an event for all the wedding guests, but rather for all the people who play a role in the event, whether they helped plan it, will walk down the aisle or take part in another way.

The design and printing of these invitations is actually quite important. Frequently the same designer who creates the wedding invitations also designs the invites to the rehearsal dinner. That’s a great choice. It is a lot easier to deal with just one company. It will also mean a uniform look between both the invitations. The same shop might have some good ideas on a pattern to work off the principal invitations. Remember as well that ordering in bulk usually involves a cost saving. Because more work is being done, there is often at least a small reduction.

There is something else to keep in mind, which might change your mind about keeping your invitations consistent. The wedding rehearsal dinner is usually planned and executed by the groom’s parents. If this is the case, they may feel more involved and important if they can come up with something unique in the way of invitations. Choosing a different design might also set apart the main wedding invitations.

The rehearsal dinner is important in the general scheme of the wedding. A poor job on the rehearsal dinner invitations can spell disaster, while a good job can make the wedding shine.

How to Crack the Best Groom Speech Jokes

May 31, 2011 by

Article by Wedding Etiquette Speeches

While writing a speech to be spoken during the wedding, it can be a very good idea for the groom to include some good groom speech jokes in order to lighten up the mood, besides making their speech memorable and perfect at the same time. Even including a light hearted story can also be a very great way in order to personalize the wedding speech to the maximum extent possible. However, it is important to crack only those groom speech jokes which are within limits and do not hurt anyone intentionally or unintentionally in any manner possible. Some of the guidelines should be followed in order to ensure that the wedding speech jokes are genuinely funny and appreciated by everyone present at the wedding.

The groom speech jokes should firstly relate to the current situation. This means that the groom might have some great stories about how he enjoyed a drunken night with his friends; however, such a story should not be narrated at the wedding. It should be ensured that the jokes or the anecdotes used in the speech should relate to the relationship between the couple or should have something to do with the wedding. Moreover, it should be kept in mind that the jokes being cracked in the speech are appropriate. This is important as the own family of the groom as well as that of the bride would be in attendance and thus any kind of embarrassment to either should be avoided. For example, telling any jokes or stories related to any uncles or aunts might be funny in a conversation, but can turn out to be offending if included in the wedding speech.

In addition to the above tips, it should always be kept in mind that talking about exes and cracking groom speech jokes about them is never a good idea. The jokes cracked by grooms about his ex-girlfriends and relationships prior to finding his perfect bride do not add to the overall humorous value of the speech at all; and, on the contrary completely ruin it. Besides, it might even upset the bride on her wedding day. Thus, it is a better idea to leave behind the past and crack jokes focusing on the current relationship.

Before jotting down any good groom speech jokes to be cracked at the wedding, it can prove to be beneficial for the groom to take the opinion of a few of his friends. Consulting an honest friend can always help in determining correctly whether a joke is appropriate or not. Whatever the case might be, it is always important to remember that the wedding speech and any of the inclusive jokes are meant to honor the bride as well as the family and friends of the groom. Awkward speech jokes can unnecessarily spoil the mood at the wedding and should be completely avoided as far as possible. It is also equally important to confer with friends to find as well as cross check the jokes, anecdotes or stories before including them in the wedding speech. It can even be nice for the groom to thank the friends who helped him find the best jokes for the wedding speech!

Discover the Perfect Wedding Hairstyles for You

May 31, 2011 by

Article by Angelo Everton

It is your wedding and you certainly want to look great. Your wedding is the single most important day in your life so it is critical to do everything possible to make it absolutely perfect. This includes selecting the best gown, the right floral accessories, and most important of all, finding which of the various wedding hairstyles looks perfect on you. There are different types of hairstyles for a wedding. You may opt for one of the many classic updo hairstyles available to facilitate a traditional and elegant look, or you may want to sport a simpler and more natural hairstyle. It is up to you to choose which hairstyle is best for you. The following tips should help you decide which hairstyle would be suitable for you on your wedding day.

Wedding hairstyles are heavily dependent on the particular headpiece that you will be wearing during the ceremony. You have several options when it comes to headpieces or veils. These include hats, crowns, caps, combs, or wreaths. So you need to first choose the type of headpiece that you want to wear before selecting a hairstyle for your wedding. For example, updo hairstyles are suitable for combs, crowns or wreaths. Pulling up your hair provides a more classic and formal look, especially with a wreath or a crown. A more relaxed and natural looking hairstyle should be used if you are wearing a cap or a hat, as these items will cover the updo and hence would defeat the purpose of your hairstyle.

Choosing amongst the wide variety of wedding hairstyles can be very challenging for the bride. There is no denying that you should pay close attention to your hairstyle on your wedding day. Wedding preparation is challenging, and thus it can be very easy for a bride to neglect choosing the proper hairstyles for her wedding. For this reason, it is always best to get a professional stylist who will take care of your hair. A stylist can determine the best hairstyle for you. Depending on the headpiece that you will wear during the wedding, your stylist can create a variety of luxurious updo hairstyles, or may decide on a loose tussled look. You will have an easier time deciding which hairstyle to wear if a professional stylist guides you along the way.

Although professional stylists are very competent in creating the most beautiful wedding hairstyles for you, it is still advisable to have some control over the way you will look on your wedding day. The best approach is to wear the hairstyle suggested by your stylist a few days prior to the wedding date. This way, you can see for yourself how the hairstyle will appear in real life. You could even try out a few different varieties if you are so inclined. If you are unsatisfied with any of the updo hairstyles you try, you can ask your stylist to think of other ways to style your hair. The key is to work closely with your hair stylist so that the two of you can come up with a hairstyle that would be the perfect compliment for your gown and hairpiece.

Planning and Booking Your Wedding Reception in Advance

May 31, 2011 by

Article by Burke Clarke

Perhaps the most important guideline you should be aware of when planning your wedding reception is the importance of booking your wedding reception venue at least six months in advance of the big day. Planning six months in advance is actually the very minimum that you should aim for. Many wedding planning experts recommend booking the venue for your wedding reception as far in advance as possible, sometimes even more than a year in advance.

There are actually several important reasons for booking your venue this far in advance. First, it will help to ensure that you are able to choose from the maximum amount of locations possible. You may be surprised to find if you wait that there are only a few limited choices available. On the other hand, if you book your reception venue as far in advance of the date as you can, you will have far more choices from which to choose. This will help to ensure you are able to select a venue that coordinates well with your overall theme, is convenient to you and your guests and also fits within your budget. When planning in advance you will find there are many different options for your reception, including a banquet hall, restaurants, ballrooms at hotels, private gardens, etc.

By booking your wedding reception venue well in advance, you will also be able to take advantage of several other important benefits. For example, you will have more time to work upon the design and décor for your reception, which is something that certainly should not be rushed. This will also allow ample time for other vendors, such as your florist and wedding coordinator to work with the selected reception venue.

This will also give you plenty of time to decide upon the wedding reception format you prefer. One of the more common formats for a wedding reception is as follows: Guest arrive, introduction of wedding party, time for guests to eat and mingle, toast to the couple, cutting of the cake, first dance, tossing of the bouquet, tossing of the garter and general dancing. Of course, if you prefer, you can also include the traditional father/daughter dance and mother/son dance right after the first dance. If you like, you can also include special dances in the format as well. For couples who are religious, a wedding reception format might also include a blessing. This is typically done right after the introduction of the bride and groom.

Planning a wedding reception can involve a lot of work, but understanding the steps involved and planning your reception and booking the venue well in advance can help to ensure that your big day goes off without a hitch!
